The Nutmeg State has long held the humiliating distinction on being one of the few states in the country which does not cover hospice care services in its Medicaid program. Well, no longer. The new law mandating such Medicaid coverage kicked in on January 1st.
Many nursing home residents who don't have private insurance (and there are a lot of nursing home residents who fall in that category) will benefit greatly from increased access to this vital end-of-life service. Kudo's to the CT legislature and all of the groups that made this development possible.
