Day One

 Tropical Storm Irene may have tacked on a couple extra days to the summer break, but the arrival of the first day of school was inevitable as all three of our boys hopped on school buses for the first time on Friday.

This was a big day for Cameron as he moves on to 6th grade, which means a different school and a format in which he moves around to different classrooms during the day...a first for him.

And, of course, Friday marked the first day that little Shanie was unleashed onto the public school system as he strutted into his kindergarten class.

Owie Unveils his Christmas Project...

The long wait is over.  After a grueling Sunday of drawing and writing, Owen polished off his big Christmas project for school in which he was charged with coming up with a display that features some of the family's Christmas traditions.  He chose (1) visiting the grandparents, (2) running in the Santa's Run, (3) doing the Advent calendar each night, (4) hiding a pickle in the Christmas tree (long story) and (5) going to Yankee Candle.

The picture he did for Yankee Candle was actually pretty cool; he decided to drip hot candle wax onto the paper, draw around the wax to make it look like a picture of a candle, and then write in the candle fragrances so that his classmates can smell them.  Now that's thinking out of the Yankee Candle box!

Back to School!

It was back to school for Cameron & Owen on Wednesday.  Cam's a big, bad 4th grader and Owen's starting 1st grade, whether they're ready for him or not!  Meanwhile, Mommy is left to figure out how to entertain little Shanie on her own for an entire day...and so far that project is not going so smoothly. 

"Aw, buddy...they're gonna LOVE you in 1st grade!"

First Day of School!

The Keenan's officially have TWO kids in the G'bury school system.  Cameron started 3rd grade this morning and Owen hopped onto a school bus for the first time this afternoon to begin his kindergarten career. 

We are VERY pleased to announce that Owen was not personally escorted home by the principal or anything like that.  So that's one incident-free day down and several more months to go!  Yeehaw!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Amy tried her best to adjust to an environment that actually allowed her to play (in peace) with Shanie!
