Good Times at the House of Mouse!

It was an exhausting yet fun & exciting week for the 17-person expedition to Disney World last week!

In fact, Cameron is just now snapping out of his clinical depression over the vacation ending.  It was nothing a few sessions with a therapist couldn't handle.

Just a few things to remember the trip by...

"They're not cockroaches...they're Palmetto's!"

"I don't get it...Frank's ashes were in a box?  In the corner of the bedroom?!"

Anyway...an enormous thank-you goes out to Nana & Pop-Pop for making yet another set of wonderful family memories possible!

Disney or Bust!

Well, the poll results for our last Disney question were all over the map.  But, strangely enough, the family's favorite Disney villain is Hades from Hercules was the winner with three votes.  This is despite the fact that the general polulation probably couldn't pick the guy out of a line-up!

Anyway, all of the following villains nabbed one vote each:  Ursula from The Little Mermaid, Syndrome from The Incredibles, Scar and The Hyenas from Lion King, Captain Hook from Robin Hood, Darla, the dentist's niece from Finding Nemo and Chick Hicks from Cars!

So...that'll do it for the Disney poll questions since we'll be shoving off very shortly.  Not sure if the polling enhances the trip at all, but it was interesting to see what everyone came up with.

OK, looking forward to seeing you punks at Bradley International!

16 Days 'til Disney!

Hard to believe, but only 16 days until we head down to Florida.  Although based on the temperatures today, it seemed like Florida came up here!

For the last KF411 Disney Poll question, Epcot barely edged out Hollywood Studios for the win.   It looks like the Norway attraction was just enough to put Epcot over the top!  Animal Kingdom was a strong third.

Here's the final tally...

Epcot:  4, Hollywood Studios:  3,  Animal Kingdom: 2.

OK, the next Disney Poll question is..."Which Disney villain is the most terrifying?!"

I think the answer is blatantly obvious, despite the fact that he's pretty short: Syndrome from The Incredibles!

Amy disagrees.  She thinks it's Ursula from The Little Mermaid.

Cameron and Owen have always been creeped out by Hades in Hercules.

Shane?  Well, he's taking this question under consideration and he'll get back to us.  Hmmm...

OK, let's hear it!

 

26 Days 'til Disney!

The results from our last poll question are in.  The query:  "Which Disney character would you most like to have a lunch date with?"

We ended up with a military tie!  The army commander from Toy Story and "Sarge", the jeep from Cars each nabbed two votes.

Then we had an unprecedented seven-way tie for 2nd place!  The following characters each drew one vote: Donald Duck, Mater, Mrs. Potato Head, Sleeping Beauty, Mr. Incredible, Tigger and Clone Trooper Rex (assuming he's a legitimate Disney character).

That's an awful lot of 2nd-place finishers, but I guess that's what happens when there are only 3 regular blog readers and approximately 8,000 Disney characters to choose from.

To be honest, I would have cast a second vote for Sleeping Beauty if it wasn't for the fact that the vote would be posted on the Internet.  So kudo's to Tony for being man enough to openly vote for SB! 

Alright, this may be the toughest poll question yet:  "Which of the Disney parks are you most looking forward to?"

Here's a quick refresher...there's Magic Kingdom, Epcot Center, Animal Kingdom and Disney Hollywood Studios.

I cast my vote for Epcot, mostly because I was treated to a Billy Ocean performance there during the last trip.

Amy and Cameron also voted for Epcot.  Owen and Shane enthusiastically voted for "Star Wars", which I'll count as two votes for Hollywood Studios.

OK, Epcot's off to a strong lead early on.   Please chime in!

32 Days 'til Disney!

OK, here are the results from the last poll question, "What Disney ride can you not wait to hop on?"...

The revamped and newly-updated Star Tours was the winner with 4 votes.

The classic indoor thriller, Space Mountain, took second place with 3 votes.

Soarin', Mount Everest and It's a Small World (despite the fact that it hasn't been updated since it opened in 1966) each raked in 2 votes.

Next up..."What Disney character would you most like to have a lunch date with?"

I vote for Mr. Incredible, Amy: Tigger,  Shane: the captain of the army guys in Toy Story,  Cameron:  Sarge from Cars (the army jeep-guy), Owen: Clone Trooper Captain Rex (although there's a heated debate going on in the household as to whether he qualifies as a Disney character).

38 Days 'til Disney!

U.S. federal law is clear that once a countdown number...any countdown number...hits 40 or less it's perfectly legal to start making a big deal about it.

Well, guess what!  Our plane takes off in 38 days!  That sounds like a long time, but trust me...it'll go fast.  In fact, I think Amy has already started packing.

My training buddies want to know if I've lost my mind for agreeing to reside with 17 people (nearly all of them Italian, no less!) in a condo unit for a full week.   Alright, maybe I AM crazy, but the weather will be a lot warmer down there and I might get a chance to meet Mr. Incredible, and that's good enough for me. 

OK, it's time for a Disney poll question:  "What Disney ride are you most looking forward to?"

Me, Cameron and Owen all vote for Star Tours while Amy and Shane can't wait for Space Mountain.
