My Practice Areas: Estate Planning

I strongly believe that each and every client has unique estate planning needs that are particular to his or her own situation and I draft estate planning documents accordingly. Please note that an estate plan is often an important component of Medicaid planning.

Easy and Affordable Estate Planning for Young Families

Recent surveys indicate that less than 50% of parents with school-aged children have a will. This is a frightening statistic in light of the guardianship and money management issues that arise when parents of young children pass away unexpectedly.

J04118181Most parents agree that signing wills is a tremendously important and responsible thing to do. Nonetheless, most parents find themselves procrastinating on this issue. Surveys indicate that there are primarily two reasons for this; the convenience factor, and a perceived high cost.

Convenience
For many young families, the thought of having to coordinate two busy schedules and lining up a babysitter for the kids while they go visit with an attorney is enough to cause families to put off their estate planning indefinitely. But I have three young children of my own and I fully understand the daily logistical challenges of a young, active family. So I am willing to make good, old-fashioned “house calls” or “work calls” to avoid the need for a babysitter. I am also happy to meet with you in the evening and on weekends, so that work schedules are not an issue.

Cost
The anticipation of an enormous bill for estate planning is no longer a reason to delay estate planning for your family. I understand that young families have tight budgets and that reality is factored into my fees. And remember that there is never a charge for the initial consultation.

Comprehensive Estate Plans

The estate planning documents that I can provide include Revocable (“Inter Vivos”) Living Trusts, Last Wills and Testaments, Powers of Attorney, Living Wills, Advanced Medical Directives, Credit Shelter Planning, Trusts for Minor Children or Grandchildren, Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts and Quitclaim Deeds.
