We're only 4 days into the GMMC and even the GRR United fans are wincing as they peruse the scoreboard...
GRR United: 72.4 miles, The Gladheatehers: 28.6 miles
So the gap is nearly 44 miles, which is roughly the distance from Glatsonbury to Milford. By my calculations, this means that if we keep this up GRR United will win the GMCC by about 341 miles.
That would be a beat-down of epic proportions, so the entire running world is hoping that the Gladheatehers do something to light a fire (an inferno, really) to make this competition worthwhile.
Yet another challenge that the Gladheatehers will be facing is keeping Shocker as a formal member of the team. There have been rumblings amongst his handlers that the big guy's not happy with the team's progress and Shortcut may end up with a teammate who's competing under protest; this is something that Shocker has done in the past.
But maybe not. Now Shocker is resorting to dragging Ghost Runner and Law-Man into the Meshomasic Forest on frequent trail runs, obviously counting on them getting hopelessly lost (at least for a few days) which would buy the Gladheatehers some time to close the gap a little.
As they say, desperate times call for desperate measures...
