Alright, folks...I'm not kidding around about this "40 marathons by the age of 40" goal. I'm going to pull this off, one way or another.
One thing that has motivated me a great deal recently was coming up with a solid marathon schedule for the next 9 marathons. I don't know who said it, but it's a brilliant statement: "If you're failing to plan, then you're planning to fail!" So here's the plan...
Marathon #32 on 12/12/09: Roxbury Marathon in Roxbury, CT.
Marathon #33 on 2/21/10: Hudson-Mohawk Marathon in Albany, NY.
Marathon #34 on 4/19/10: Boston Marathon.
Marathon #35 on 6/6/10: Nipmuck Trail Marathon in Ashford, CT.
Marathon #36 on 10/9/10: Hartford Marathon.
Marathon #37 on 2/20/11: Hudson-Mohawk Marathon.
Marathon #38 on 4/18/11: Boston Marathon.
Marathon #39 on 6/5/11: Nipmuck Trail Marathon.
And finally, Marathon #40 on 10/23/11: Marine Corps Marathon.
Now that's long-term planning! Hopefully this schedule will work out. Life has a tendency of getting in the way sometimes. But the good news is that the deadline is not until August 10, 2012. So I've built a ton of "cushion" into this schedule, which allows for additional marathons to be tacked on in case one of the scheduled races doesn't work out for some reason.
Sattler, I hope you're ready for Marine Corps 2011!
