Disney Training Log: 12/2/08

Mr. O'Toole and I ventured up into the hills this morning, and we didn't waste any time climbing as we kicked things off by going up Hopewell and South Pond.

Just as we were gearing up to vanquish Matson Hill we started slipping and sliding on black ice at the bottom of the hill which forced us to do an about-face. Undeterred, we trekked over to Woodland to attack the South Glastonbury orchard loop from the east side. But again, our efforts were thwarted by slippery conditions at the bottom of the first climb and we beat another hasty retreat. How humiliating!

Nonetheless, we still managed to hit some of the major players in the local hill industry like Sunset, the Boulder Circle neighborhood, Chestnut Hill, New London Turnpike and Tall Timbers. And we managed to cover the hilly 12.3-mile route in a fast 7:08 pace. An excellent workout which more than made up for slogging through the cold, wet weather for an hour yesterday!
