My Armstrong Showdown Training Log: 4.9.08

ImagesA shorter run than normal today, but some faster-paced running was incorporated in my ongoing effort to keep the legs somewhat nimble for the next 12 days.  Sattler and I did five minutes of runnning at slightly above the 6:00 mark with each effort followed by a brief one-minute jog, and did that for five sets.  Not particularly exhausting, but a solid workout nonetheless.

A brief panic ensued at some point in the middle of the third set today when I realized that I really have only 10 training days left since I'm not training the day before the race.  I want to catch the U.S. Women's Olympic Marathon Trials race which takes place in Boston the day before the Boston Marathon.  But the race starts at 8am, which means I'll have to leave town too early to get a run in.  Ten days?! Yikes!

9 miles this morning with an average pace of 6:57.  10 training days until Boston!
